Our Name: Why The Number 8?

So…We’re finally going to do it: We’re going to open our own restaurant!!

As you can imagine, we are equal parts excited and nervous for the start of this incredible new experience. We’ve always dreamt of opening our very own eatery and we’re finally making that dream a reality!

Already we’re getting everything done to get it up and running. We’ve started mapping out our business plan, including the type of cuisine we’ll be offering to our hungry customers and, just as important, the restaurant’s name.

Do you want to know that the name is? …Are you ready for it?

Drum roll please….

Its name will be Number 8 Restaurant!

Why “Number 8”, you ask?

Well, the reason is quite simple really.

Not only is it my lucky number (and always has been), but to make matters even more special, 8 is also the street number of the place too.

Isn’t that just perfect?!

In case you were wondering, the reason the number 8 is my lucky number is simply because I was born on August 8th of 1988 (8/8/88, get it?). It shouldn’t come as a surprise then that I’ve always thought 8 was an appropriate lucky number to have. Maybe I’ll even have 8 kids one day (just kidding, mum haha)

So, you can guess that finding the perfect venue with the same street number as the restaurant’s name is as perfect as it gets. It was like this place was meant to be ours, you know? ?

About Number 8 Restaurant’s menu, we’re looking to offer something different to the people in the UK, all Uruguayan cuisine. In case you haven’t heard of this type of food, it’s all about yummy stakes and grilled beef. Doesn’t that sound delicious?

Our vision for the place is that it should be a little bit rustic (all wooden joinery and sturdy but comfortable furniture), a place where you and your family can go to have a lovely dinner. ?

My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to share with all of you every step of the process. This way you can get to know us, (maybe even learn from us if you’re dreaming of opening your own restaurant someday) and, as a bonus, we’ll have a written record of everything that this exciting new chapter in our lives will bring. Something we can look back on when we’re older.

We hope you will enjoy learning about our journey as much as we’ll (hopefully) enjoy going through it.
