Just what Selby needs, a great restaurant! I have been several times and  had superb food and excellent service. I can recommend number 8 to all  those who enjoy fine dining.

My Mum and I had lunch at your restaurant today and we just wanted to let you know what a lovely restaurant you have and the food was beautiful. Also the two young girls were very polite and friendly. We will be back and will be recommending you.

After trying to locate a restaurant near Selby that was open on a Monday, I came across the Number 8. First appearances of their website was that it looked very clean and modern with a good selection of food.

Considering the good value, I didn't expect the food to be of such high quality, our meal was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Service was first class and the staff really made us feel welcome and comfortable. I would recommend Number 8 without hesitation and will be returning on my next visit to the area.

No.8: Lovely Lunch

My husband and I have been to Number 8 on quite a few occasions since it was opened. Today we brought some friends for Lunch and yet again were not disappointed, the Homemade Burger was delicious and was the Beef Wrap.

Keep up the good work as Number 8 seems to go from strength to strength.

'The crème brûlée for dessert offered a final hurrah. This one was good.

The caramelised coating shattered into tiny shards with one gentle tap of the spoon revealing an unctuous lemony cream. A plate of local cheeses, biscuits, celery and grapes was equally well-received.'

To the manager of Number 8,

Having read that your restaurant was recommended in the York Group newsletter of Coeliac Uk I was keen to try an establishment that was not only setting out to provide good quality food but could also adapt this for a Gluten Free diet. I was not disappointed, and I would like to congratulate the chef and waiting staff for the excellent food and thoughtful consideration of my dietary needs.

Once my friends and I had been seated, (in very stylish surroundings I might add) the waitress could not have been more helpful in checking with the chef that my choices would not contain gluten. It is so refreshing to not feel that you are being awkward when enquiring about a dish.
All our group thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the beautifully prepared and presented courses. We all agreed that your menu offered an intriguing twist on traditional dishes and thought it great value for money. All this and only a short walk home.
Please pass on my compliments to your staff and we will certainly be returning soon. Great food, great place, great peace of mind.

We have been to number 8 on a couple of occasions & the experience was excellent. The food is superb, beautifully presented & tastes wonderful. We can thoroughly recommend the mussels to start & the liver for main course which just melted in your mouth! The puddings are also to die for! The setting is also beautiful with some tables upstairs overlooking the abbey. We also have been at lunch times & again the food very good. This is just what Selby needs & we will be visiting many times in the future. Well done to Tim & the team, long may your business prosper.

Review by Mr Newton:-

Sunday lunch today at Number 8. Excellent menu choice, beautifully prepared and presented dishes, generous portions, relaxed and efficient service in comfortable and stylish surroundings. A classy alternative to some of York's better establishments with the advantage of being close to home. Highly recommended. Will definitely be trying an evening meal soon!

Review by Mrs Chilton:-

Just come home from a meal from your restaurant with my partner and we are amazed!!!! The food was absolutely outstanding, the best we have had in a very long time. I had the lamb which was cooked to perfection and my partner had the belly pork, which he says was the best he has ever tasted, I had the choc torte for pud WOW!!! not the usual shop bought tortes i've had in other eateries, this was the bees knees i could have eaten that for every course. I also like the fact that there arn't hundreds of meals to choose from on the menu it makes choosing so much easier and uncomplicated. Not to mention the surroundings, they were very welcoming, beautifully decorated, a fantastic contemporary feel to the place, a first for Selby, and about time too, the toilets weren't half bad either!!!!!!, i have a "thing" about clean toilets in restaurants!!!!!!......10/10 number 8, we will definitely stick to coming here.

Review by Mr. Eccles:-

My son and I had a meal at number8 on Thurs 20th Dec, I would just like to say that the food, service and surroundings were first class, It is about time Selby had an eating place of this outstanding quality, I was so impressed I went back the following evening with a friend, I would like to wish all concerned a long and prosperous stay in Selby and I look forward to many more meals in this establishment, Alex Eccles.
