Uruguay is the home of all things beef, so if you’re a meat lover, this is the perfect place for you. Number 8 Restaurant will be offering a menu full of prime quality beef (chicken too for those who prefer it), made the exact same way as the Uruguayans make it. Meaning a slow roast in wood fire barbeque grills. The delicious smoky taste that this type of grilling imbues the meat with is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before, that’s a guarantee. The grilled vegetables, such as potatoes, corn on the cob, and stuffed bell peppers, are also quite the treat! All of the grilled menu items are served with a side of “chimichurri” sauce for even more Uruguayan oomph.
For the fans of sandwiches, we offer the world-famous “chivito”. A delicious and typical meat sandwich that includes a generous serving of beef tenderloin, fried egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce, melted mozzarella cheese, olives, and the sauce of your choice (BBQ, ketchup, mayonnaise), all served between two delicious toasted buns. Fair warning, this is quite the large sandwich, so unless you have a healthy appetite, sharing is a good way to go.
We also offer some vegetarian options, for those in the family who are not big meat eaters. Some of them include traditional Uruguayan quiches, made with a delicious, flaky pastry that melts in your mouth. The pasta dishes are just as amazing.
Desserts are also an important part of every meal, and we have some great options for you. For those who don’t like their desserts to be too sweet, “Chaja” is a perfect fit. This dessert is made of a scrumptious and moist vanilla cake, filled with layers of fresh whipped cream, bits of meringue to give it a satisfying crunch, and delicious slices of peach. All of it covered in more whipped cream and even more crushed meringues. Just the right amount of sweetness.
Red wine is also a staple at almost every Uruguayan table, and we’ve imported some delicious and award-winning labels made with the signature Tannat grapes that are grown in several parts of the country.
